Australian Landscapes

Australian landscapes have a diversity and unique beauty comparable to anywhere in the world. Snow-covered mountains, deserts, tropical rainforests, pristine beaches, temperate forests, rural scenes. You name it, we’ve got it!

Photography is all about using light, and landscape photography provides endless opportunities in this regard. Photograph one scene on ten different days and you can have ten very different images. The time of day, the season, the weather – all will have an impact on how the final image looks. The light creates the mood and atmosphere. It can make a dull scene beautiful and a stunning scene mundane!

Everyone has their own idea of what constitutes a great landscape photograph. What appeals to one may not appeal to someone else, but that’s fine. It’s what makes this subject so challenging. But it also makes it so rewarding when you nail a shot that has broad appeal!

Most of my work is from Australia’s south-east, with most (but not all) images from around New South Wales. The category includes seascapes and images taken at night

Browse through Australian landscapes and I’m sure you’ll find something you like.
