When we think of Australian fauna, kangaroos, koalas and platypus immediately spring to mind. And rightly so – they are fascinating animals. But Australian fauna is much more diverse than this. A few types of mammals and birds are familiar to everyone, as are some of the insects that are found in the garden. But there are about 380 species of mammals, over 800 types of birds, a similar number of snakes and lizards, and over 200 species of frogs and toads. And that’s not even considering the fish and countless insects and other invertebrates!
Most of my images are of birds, with a smattering of mammals, reptiles and insects. This isn’t due to a lack of interest in these other groups, and I certainly hope to expand on this in the future. If what you’re looking for isn’t here yet, keep looking in the future and hopefully it will appear!
